Educational Classes, Workshops and TalksThe Great Seam Debate - Delve into the controversial subject of seam rings. For use in a fresh piercing? Or not? This class will take a look at different types of seam rings, identifying the subtle differences between them. This leads to a spicy piercer vs. piercer debate (by the instructors) showcasing polarized viewpoints on their application to body piercing. This is a gloves off match! (Co-Instructor: Jacob Spjut)
(60 min Class) Asking the Right Questions - Let's take a deep dive into finding the right vendor. Asking the Right Questions helps piercers find what motivates purchases and the mindset to have when talking to new and old vendors. The class will give piercers the right tools so they can save time, money, and help them curate the perfect brands to enable success. (60 min Class) Scratching the Surface - Delve into the magnified world of surface finish. We'll take a look at the 3D topography of a variety of body jewelry materials and finishes, its role in body piercing, and some differences that just might change the way you look at your jewelry. (60 min Class) The Ear As Art - Delve into an artistic approach to ear curation and projects. Elements of art and principles of design will direct us to identify some tips and tricks in making your next project a success. (60 min class) Surface Anchors - A practical look into surface anchors and where we landed with them. Covering insertion and removal techniques done with speed. Some tips to maximize success and how to prevent failures. A piercing with a speckled history of success. Let's revisit this with lessons learned over the years. Successful placements, jewelry considerations, piercing techniques, roll in insertion and removal techniques, aftercare concerns, and a general overview of the mindset needed for success. (60 min Class) Strategic Marking - This is a big screen iteration of the popular strategic marking workshop, allowing attendees an up-close view of the instructors’ marking styles and techniques. We will be walking through many aspects of marking, from how skin prep products can affect marks, to tools that can help you and your client better visualize the end result, to advanced marking techniques for connected piercings and paired piercings. This class is intended for all levels of experience, with material for beginners and long time piercers alike. (Co-Instructors: Christina Shull, Joshua Noble-Olson) (60 min Class/Workshop) Advanced Industrial Concepts - This class will be focused on industrial ear piercings. Double, triple point industrials, connecting multi point projects and custom jewelry. Trace mapping and point mapping will be covered as well as an overview of the entire process from initial consultations to the final product. (60 min Class) Studio Security - Have you done enough? This is a scary question to answer. This class is aimed for all studio owners, managers and piercers. Protecting our investments from thieves is easily overlooked. Studio Security will cover a variety of topics and techniques, applied specifically to our industry, breaking down some affordable steps you can take to prevent yourself from becoming a victim. (60 min Class) Polishing for the Piercer - A feature length presentation covering everything you need to know about jewelry polishing: buffing wheels, compounds, safety, common mistakes, scratches and most importantly technique. In addition to the class, a hands on - small workshop group training will be available. Walk out with the knowledge, skill and experience to add value to your studio. (60 min Class + Workshop available) Introduction to Trauma Informed Body Modification - Introduction to Trauma Informed Body Modification provides tangible skills builds from research informed practices to establish a safe and empowering modification experience for survivors of trauma. This session will provide a foundation of knowledge and improve the interpersonal relationship skill of professionals on an individual level. (90 min Class) Getting Green - Anodizing 101 - Jewelry anodizing is common practice among body piercing studios these days. Learn how to setup, use, apply an anodizing system into your business. Create spectacular colors on titanium and niobium jewelry, carry less stock, save money, and aide in the passivation of your jewelry.
