Section 1 - Covid-19 Response / Reopening
Health and safety are our number one concern for both employees and clients. We have taken the time, and gone the extra mile to put together a robust and meticulous standard for reopening.

We are able to bring you the highest standards in Iowa for body piercing.
We are going to open slowly and gradually expand, and ramp up services/times as as we can.. please be patient with us.
A Few Temporary Changes
- Our hours have greatly reduced and we are short staffed - please see the online booking form for available times
- All services will require an appointment: Piercings, jewelry insertions, troubleshooting, Jewelry sales and consultations.
- We will not be performing oral piercings (tongue, lip or cheek piercings) (Subject to change)
- Kids Ear Piercing - Please read our Kids section
Pre-Screening
If you aren't feeling well or have been around people that aren't feeling well, it's important that you take the time to make sure you're healthy and safe, prior to getting pierced.
At The Studio
- Everything is by appointment only.
- We will have a designated line to stand in and wait for your appointment. Please practice social distancing
- Please bring a face mask (with ear/head loops, not a bandanna or sock). If you don't have one, we will have some available.
- Wear your mask properly, covering your nose and mouth entirely (we will nicely ask you to correct it, if you’re not. This is for OUR safety)
- Please refrain from touching your mask (this contaminates your hands)
- Hand sanitizer will be available for all clients
- One person at a time. No guests / friends / spectators, No children (unless they are receiving a piercing)
- Please stay off your phone, or allow us to clean it for for you.

What are your age and identification requirements ?
For those who are 18 years or older, you must present one of the following valid and current forms of identification:
For minors (under 18yrs of age), we will require a birth certificate along with an the minors photo ID (16yrs & up) and the parent/legal guardian's ID to present one of the following valid and current forms of identification:
Please note that being the step-parent of a minor does not automatically make you the legal-guardian. You will need to provide documentation declaring you are the legal guardian of the minor.
NOTE: Parent/Legal Guardian are required to be present during the entire piercing procedure.
Minimum Age Restrictions:
Earlobes - ages 5 & up.
Ear Cartilage - ages 14 & up
Nostril, Navel, Lip, Eyebrow, Septum - ages 14 & up
Tongue, Non-facial Surface Piercing - ages 16 & up
Surface Anchors & Facial Surface Piercing- age 18 & up
Everything else is age 18 & up
Do you pierce kids’ ears?
Yes, we do perform earlobe piercings on children age 5 and older. More info here...
What if I have a problem with my piercing?
If you think there is something wrong with your piercing, please feel free to stop on by and have us assess it in person. Many common problems are easily prevented and/or treated. In case of an emergency please seek medical help from a physician.
Does aftercare products come with the piercing?
Heck Yes, we will provide you with everything you need to take care of your new piercing. We will provide 'H2Ocean Body Piercing Aftercare Spray' . The product we give you is a premixed, isotonic, ph balanced, sterile saline solution that is 100% compatible with the body. The goal is to build cells, not kill cells. We will not recommend chemicals, antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic or anything considered foreign or damaging to the body. Your piercer at Prysm will cover all the details of safe aftercare practices.
What happens if my jewelry breaks or a gem comes out?
All of our initial piercing jewelry is manufactured in the USA and is guaranteed from manufacturers defects. Just bring it back and we can have it fixed or replaced at no cost to you. We cannot guarantee jewelry that is lost or missing. Regularly check your jewelry fastenings (beads/posts/pins/hinges) for tightness to prevent loss.
How much does a piercing cost?
Our procedure fees for most piercings are $52. This includes:
- The piercing procedure
- All the sterilization processes
- H2Ocean Aftercare Product
- Sterile gauze
- Free Downsizing - For piercings that require size adjustment after initial swelling. (*titanium post)
- 50% off Downsizing - For piercings that require size adjustment after initial swelling. (*gold post)
- Free Checkups and troubleshooting,
Each additional piercing is $25
The procedure fees do not include the cost of jewelry.
How much is Jewelry?
Jewelry options will vary in price depending on the size, material, design and gemstone(s) you decide to go with. We invite you set up a consultation/shopping appointment to come visit our studio in person, get a consultation, see what we are all about, and explore our extensive jewelry selection.
Ring options can start in at $26.ea
Stud options can start in at $35.ea
Each piercing/placement is anatomy specific to each person and we can't tell you what design or style is best for your anatomy without seeing it in person.
Are there any other fees?
We charge a convenience fee of 4% to all payments via card (debit/credit cards)
This is done to offset the charges incurred with this form of payment
Does not apply to CASH transactions.
Do I need an Appointment?
Yes, Due to Covid-19 we are now by appointment only. Booking is available at the bottom of this page.
Normally, Walk-ins are only accepted if time is available between appointments and then on a "first come - first served" basis. We cannot promise availability, so we always suggest booking an appointment. NOTE: At this time, walk-ins are discouraged and are more likely to be turned away. Appointments are essentially required due to the outbreak and our responses to it.
Cancellation Policy & Deposits
-Cancellations must be made within four (4) hours' notice or the deposit will be surrendered. To cancel, you can either follow the link that was emailed upon setting the appointment or call our studio.
-If you call to cancel and do not receive an immediate response, you must leave a message or your cancellation cannot be processed.
-Appointments cannot be created, rescheduled, or canceled via email or other online avenues meant to communicate with Prysm Body Piercing directly. Replying to the automated email you were sent will not be seen by our staff and can still result in forfeiting your deposit.
-To cancel an appointment scheduled within the first four (4) hours of our business day, you must either follow the instructions in the link sent upon setting the appointment, or call and leave a message prior to opening of that business day.
-If you do not arrive with the proper ID(s) after making an appointment, you will lose your deposit. It is your responsibility to make sure you know what is required and have everything with you at the time of your appointment.
-If you are late to your appointment by fifteen (15) minutes or more, the deposit may be surrendered. Additionally/alternatively, other clients may be served ahead of you. This depends on the time that we have available for that day.
-Prysm Body Piercing is not responsible if you book the wrong day or time mistakenly or if you do not properly accommodate time zones when scheduling.
-If you arrive for your appointment and decide not to get pierced, your deposit will not be refunded. (As we will be unable to fill this spot).
-If you arrive for your appointment and do not have suitable anatomy for the piercing you are seeking, your deposit will be refunded in full.
